13F Filing Deadlines: 2026 Calendar

Form 13F is due 45 days after each calendar quarter closes. That yields four predictable dates a year — with a rollover rule that quietly moves two of them in 2026.

The 45-day rule

Managers subject to Section 13(f) must file within 45 days of the end of each calendar quarter. Because quarter-end dates are fixed, so are the base deadlines:

  • Quarter ending March 31due May 15
  • Quarter ending June 30due August 14
  • Quarter ending September 30due November 14
  • Quarter ending December 31due February 14

Those four dates are the whole schedule. Everything else is the rollover rule for weekends and federal holidays, covered below.

2026–2027 deadline calendar

The next deadline is Friday, August 14, 2026, covering positions held as of June 30, 2026.

How weekends and holidays shift the date

When an SEC filing deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, it moves to the next business day. Two of the deadlines in the table above shift for exactly this reason, and both involve the mid-February date colliding with Presidents Day.

THE FEBRUARY COLLISION

The base Q4 deadline of February 14 sits directly beside Presidents Day, which falls on the third Monday of February. In 2026, February 14 was a Saturday and February 16 was Presidents Day, pushing the deadline to Tuesday, February 17. In 2027, February 14 falls on a Sunday and February 15 is Presidents Day, pushing it to Tuesday, February 16.

The November date has the same issue in 2026 for a simpler reason: November 14, 2026 is a Saturday, so the deadline rolls to Monday, November 16.

Why everything lands on the last day

In principle a manager could file the day after quarter end. In practice, almost none do. Filing early means disclosing positions sooner than required, with no offsetting benefit, so the filings cluster hard against the deadline.

For anyone tracking institutional holdings, this has a useful consequence and an annoying one. The useful part: four days a year carry nearly all the new information, so you know exactly when to look. The annoying part: those days produce thousands of filings at once, and any quarter-over-quarter comparison has to wait until the full set arrives.

It also means the freshest data is at its most stale on arrival — the positions are already 45 days old the moment they become public. We unpack that staleness here.

Frequently asked questions

When is the next 13F filing deadline?

The Q2 2026 deadline is Friday, August 14, 2026 — 45 days after the quarter ended on June 30, 2026. The following deadline, covering Q3 2026, is Monday, November 16, 2026.

How many days after quarter end is a 13F due?

Form 13F is due within 45 days of the end of each calendar quarter. That produces base deadlines of May 15, August 14, November 14, and February 14. When one of those dates falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.

What time of day are 13F filings released?

Filings appear on EDGAR as they are submitted throughout the deadline day, so there is no single release time. Because most managers file at or near the deadline, the majority of filings land on the final day rather than being spread evenly across the 45-day window.

Do all funds file on the same day?

No, but the distribution is heavily skewed toward the deadline. Managers gain nothing from disclosing early and generally prefer not to reveal positions sooner than required, so deadline day accounts for a disproportionate share of filings.
